Milestones

This morning the kid woke up extra early to go pee. I took her to the bathroom and came back to bed. I must have fallen back asleep because the next thing I know, she’s next to the husband saying, “Papa, I want breakfast.”

I opened my eyes.

“Did you finished going pee?” I asked her.

“Yeah,” she answered.

“Did you wipe?” I asked.

“Yeah, mama!” she said.

“Are you sure?” I asked again… she didn’t even answer that last time…

The husband got up and began making her breakfast. I got up and we all started going about our day.

Now all I can think about is the fact that we have a four year old that can go to the bathroom all on her own. She was a baby just a second ago! She needs us less. The husband is happy about it. He says that while he remembers all the little things she used to do as a baby with love and joy, he’s glad that she’s more independent.

A few seconds passed by and he said, “Wow! Time is really flying by… isn’t it?” He gave me this strange look… like he was just realizing that.

Yes! Yes, it is! Time is flying by! Every time I turn around, she’s bigger, older, and smarter, than before!

I started laughing… The kid has had a lot of milestone by now, but it’s the weirdest ones, that throw me for a loop. Like being able to wipe her own butt.

For Christmas she had gotten this robot thing, but we didn’t let her open it because she was too busy with her dinos. Plus she wasn’t ready for it and she had gotten so many toys that we actually trickled them down until now. This was the last one. Yesterday, the kid finished her first Computer Coding and Robotics class, so her and her dad built this thing.
